Id like to dig out the 2cvgb article where someone had fitted a tracker cheaply,
Id like to do this to my car. Seems more and more classics are going walkies and mine lives in a council garage

There's various eBay cheapies that just need a PAYG mobile sim. Wire 'em in so they're permacharging, and remember to prod the sim every few months to keep it alive. Send 'em a text to get a response with the location. Can't think of many places on a 2cv to hide one effectively, though... |

Its tiny. 45mm by 25mm by 10 or something. Trawled through the Mags Dec 2012. Behind the speedo is a good idea.. I thought about under the dash padding Anyway gunna order me one. Maybe order 2 (one for my boat). The pikeys love boats |

Having dealt with quite a few vehicles fitted with tracking devices, there are some points I feel I should mention. The sophisticated system used by a company that trades as 'Tracker' and fitted to many expensive vehicles and plant,itself is not always totally reliable,even though police vehicles have detection equipment fitted, the results are not always that accurate.I have seen the same tracker supposed to be in several places miles apart at the same time,on more than one occasion. As for this one for £80 ( very reasonable price) think about how crap at times your mobile signal is and in some areas you have no signal at all. When I'm in my UK home in a large town my T mobile signal is bloody awful, but when in a small village in France it's brilliant. Having said this I would be interested to see how this one fairs,so that's a long term test and a post from you James I guess.Also will your insurance company give you a discount? I think they should. Looking at the spec on this unit,it's interesting to note they say it can locate your vehicle withing 5 metres,but does not activate until you car has moved more than 200 !!! I would want it to let me know before that. but anything that helps protect our cars has got to be a big plus..

Spanners once told me The Birmingham 2CV Centre sold an immaculate car to a bloke about 20 years ago who seemed very genuine, the next thing heard about that 2CV was it had been stopped at Dover returning from France and the chassis was found to be stuffed full with drugs. The car was destroyed by Customs during their search. As a side note, about 8 years ago I was stopped at Dover and they were quite interested in looking at my car's chassis, they were clearly quite upset when I informed them that my chassis was open, with no lower plate.
