Found this on ebay and bought it on the understanding if it does not work could return it for refund. But hey presto works fine even with 123 evo ignition.
People very helpful.

you did tell them it was a 2cv with a "lost spark" ignition - same as a HD

Yep - but they were not sure it would work but no problems. Running up without shakes etc and good finish on the thing

I bought a cheap tacho suitable for typical 4-cyl 4 stroke engine, 1 year ago and works since.
The signal connection is on the coil.

:idea: The lost spark is not a problem as is the same sparks/revolutions rate as a 4-cyl.

I should it would be fine. 123 only gives a signal as per the points
