 France breath test
Most propably you all know this but France will introduce a law on July 1st that all cars will have to carry a one shot breath tester. We (us over here) can buy them in the chemists for about 1.00 euro. The other thing they are going to do (not sure if this law was past) is ban the use of the function on your GPS that shows where the speed cameras are. Most GPS have a option to show or not show in the set up area.

 Re: France breath test
Still not gone through the equivalent of their parliament yet and is likely to depend on the results of the Presidential elections next month.
The sat nav thing has been passed. If you are caught with a sat nav that has speed camera warnings on it, there is a very hefty fine indeed [1,500 €] and confiscation of your sat nav. This is no joke and there have been people I know of who have already been caught.
If you have a Tom Tom, just update it and they will be removed on the France map and replaced with a dangerous road warning [same thing but not as accurate]

For the record and UK folks planing a visit to France. At this stage the radar issue is not passed and you will not be pulled over and given a fine.

As much as I hate to contradict you Peter this law has been passed and came it effect on 3rd January along with a program to remove warning signs showing speed camera ahead. Most have already been removed in the Poitou Charente already. I also know someone [French] who was pulled at a peage booth. Had his sat nav confiscated and received a ticket. He was subsequently fined 750 €. The breathalyser legislation, if passed, will come into effect on 1st July with a 3 month grace period before fines [11 €] will be issued for not carrying at least two.

 Re: France breath test
However the link does not clearly stipulate the detection of permanent speed stations are illegal. Also nothing mentioned on any french car fora or radio stations.

Who has the power to arrest you, seize your vehicle and sat nav or what ever? I don't think so, maybe me being a retired copper makes a difference, as it used to piss me off when some bar room barrister tried to tell me I was wrong! They never won but if you want to play Russian Roulette, good luck
