Post subject:  WOAH!!!!!!!

I was in the petrol station last week just about to fill up Trevor with 20 odd litres of best unleaded, and I thought, lets treat him, lets fill him up with super unleaded, just to see what it does.
Well,I am happy to report that the mid range lurgies just disappeared,no more flat spot,no more hesitation, just pure un interupted speed :D
But,and its a bigish but,my mpg is down  .
Since starting to record mpg,I have had the following,33.86,33.54,32.6,37.76(after a run to Petes in Monmouth)36.00 and now,31.97 :?
WTF is going on? I havent changed my routes or my drivimg style.Any ideas?
I have a hydrogen making thingy to fit onto Trevor which is supposed to give major MPG improvement.Dont know if it will,we will see.I wont be fitting it until we come back from France in April,I need complete reliability  .

Woah there tiger!

how do you make hydrogen? what do you do with it to make better mpg and are you aware that Citroens , contary to popular belief, obey the basic laws of thermodynamics?

when are you fitting it first day or so of April?

Dave,
why don't you re-jet the carburettor instead, so that in 'the mid range' you're running on a mixture which is closer to stoichiometric, instead of one which is so lean it's causing hesitation?

That would give more bang for each buck and since you should be able to travel at the same speed for a smaller throttle opening, probably give improved mpg as well...

No he must have been ferreting around Chernobyl and found some old reactor parts.

Glad it is going to be fitting after his visit to France.
The French will not be happy if the lamb starts glowing in the dark.

Which reminds me I must finish building and stocking up the fallout bunker.

Ok,I knew I would get this reaction(no pun intended).I will take some pics of the kit tommorow and try and explain how its supposed to work.
from what I can remember,I fill this little tank with a mixture of water and something else(cant remember what it is) and an electric 12v current is passed through it,it then must boil or what ever, giving off hydrogen, and that is tubed off into the air intake inside the air filter.Sorted  .

Good idea Ken.I will try that, just thought I would try the super un leadead to see what it did.
Didnt think It would make the mpg worse though :o

Sounds nonsense to me. If it was that easy to make hydrogen then every car would have one fitted, surely? 8-)

my MPG is always pretty shit,
but i just keep my foot down and smile whilst i drive and cry when i realise how much i spend on fuel!

Ken im intrigued by re jetting to give less throttle same speed action, as i have wanted to change, as mine is pretty crap low to mid range gear two... as Fieldmouse will recall

Any suggestion as what jet size to aim for?

i know ive asked that before, but dont recall a definate answer...
On ecas waiting to order to fit sunday (while I have time ;) )
