OK, Unless Ive missed a thread... ...am I right in thinking that us people in the UK now can chuck in our 2CVs.... ....or any car... ...for a new car and its gonna get us £2000 of the price of the new one ? That puts me in a right state cause my misses likes 2CVs but likes to drive something "newer" for work and is self employed so can set some of it off....a Citroen C1 would suit her fine and so therefore one of my 2CVs has suddenly got a £2k price tag on its ear !!! This is not good news.... |

DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT them cars cant be used for parts or anything... THEY TURN INTO LITTLE METAL BOXES.... and eventually into a coke can... im sure of it  c1 is never going to be as good as a 2cv! you'll have devil horns growing out from your head... if you dont, i'll superglue some on  mwuahahahaha

The trouble is there's a catch, you have to have owned the car for a year continuously, and it must be mot'd and road legal. The other catch is that you can't use more than one car, so I sadly can't chop in all four of mine and buy something nice with a free £8000. |

There's a bit more to it than that. That two grand is only half from the government. T'other half is from the manufacturer. So that's a grand that'll be on the table anyway, even without the trade-in. When that trade-in is handed over, the dealer has a legal responsibility to scrap it, document that scrapping and prove it to the government. So they've got some work to do. They'll probably give you another ton or two off, just to avoid that hassle. So we're down to maybe £800 actual difference on the table. That's less than an MOTd 2cv is worth. |
