Hi Does anyone know when 2CV's changed from Brown to black plastic inside? What sort of steering wheel was fitted? Cheers Matt |

Around 1977? All I know is that we had an R-reg (late '76) 2cv6 in Jaune cedrat with brown interior, but a chap down the road had an R reg (but '77 reg'd) in that dark-reddy colour with black interior. These had a brown, and black single spoke wheel respectively. Another R-reg 2cv we had in beige gazelle had brown interior too. Also a local '76 P-reg green 2cv had brown inside too. All were single demister cars. Maybe it was dependant on body colour as to what colour the interior was? But my guess is that it changed colour across the board in 1977. If this helps!? |

So you could get brown plastic with the black smaller single spoke wheel? Hmmm |

Not as standard I wouldn't have thought, as all the brown interiors I've seen have a brown wheel too. No reason why you shouldn't change it to a black one though - I'm sure nobody would mind! |

I know of a couple of yellow cars from 79/80 that had all black trim, but brown door panels. Although I don't know if they were like that from new or not. |

The reason why I ask is my single demister project car, has busted plastics that might be black, but since the chance of finding a single demister dash in black is as likely as finding a starter motor for a Saturn V rocket on ebay, I might have to resort to brown. |

I think you should keep searching for the right colour, fitting the wrong one will of course devalue the car significantly and I doubt anybody will talk to you again for ruining such a valuable and important piece of motoring heritage. |

Russell Sadly the rules you've laid down for this forum prevent me from writing what I want to write in response to your last post. I will wait until I see you and then say it to your face ![]() |
