Anyone know where would be best to get some interior carpet on the cheap? Want it to line the van. Front cab and back.

Cheers Max.

I find the plain black on the door-cards a bit bland and boring for such a cool car.I want to fit upholstery from Dunelms to the door-cards. How easy do the door-cards come off the doors and how much material do I need to buy to ensure I cover all 4 cards? I could measure them, but if somebody has done it and has the measurements, then all the better. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

When I lined out the inside of my camper I brought some special elastic carpet from a camper van fitters (Blibos). It really was superb as it was flexible and followed the contours of any weird shapes brilliantly. Although you may just have flat panels.

The other thing I was told was to be careful with which glue you use. Some normal carpet adhesive fails when vehicles get megga hot in the summer. Again used stuff from a camper fitters......although I have also used Wickes spray carpet adhesive. With that you squirt both the carpet and the place you want to stick it to wait a few moments and once you slap em together is pretty dam good.

Standard cheap carpet is available from places like Carpet world. You can get it for about 2.99 per meter in my local branch ...you have to by a linier meter which is 4 m so you get a load of carpet for 12 quid.

Door cards just clip off. Ive never measured them, but again you are likely to be goverened by fabric widths. Gluing fabric on the facing side though is going to spoil the finish. Stretching it around the back could be tricky. For this one I would get a spare card or do a test on a bit of hardboard first. Be interested to hear how you get on.....you could be clever and include some pockets to store stuff in !

All the best

Cheers mate, I have had a thought of how to secure the material to the door-cards, I'll see how things go and let you all know.

OK ...shame...here...

I once got into those changing rooms type programmes and in the 80s sponging paint on walls was the thing....I sponged humbrol paints on my 2CV door cards....(having upset the wife by doing the kitchen and bathroom first !)

....I dont know why I am admiting this....it looked shit then....that car is in my mother-in-laws garage....I looked the other day.....it looks real crap now....

.....tiger stripes would be far better.

....off to crawl into a hole in shame !!!!

Im an old git ....

Cant wait to see some door cards done better than my attempts.....what about wood veneer.....tounge and groove (groove I said....you hot blooded monkies)

...fablon...anyone remember that ?

I wonder what the best and worst door card coverings ther ever has been ?
