My need (apart from not being my need at all, I've been asked by someone else) is not strictly for 2cvs so I hope you don't mind me asking here... but it might be relavent for some 2cvers too... My sister has just acquired a classic (*cough*) and wants to keep it nice. She asked me about car covers v portable garages and what not... I have no idea, so I was wondering if you lot might. Are they worth the money? Is the cover better than the tent type thing? Cheers gang! (move or remove if you think its a bit O/T) |

What's she bought Louise? did she engoy collecting the Allegro so much she had to have one of her own? Where's she keeping it, on a drive or on the road? On a drive I'd buy the most building-like thing I could get away with, but I think a decent waterproof breathable cover would be all you'd get away with on the public highway. |

Yep! A 1979 Allegro 1300 super!! She does have a drive so I think the garagey type option would be a good bet, its only a bit more expensive than the covers she has been looking at. She renting so thats why she can't really get anything more permanent. Cheers Russ. |

Really? Haha! Maybe she should speak to her landlord and show them the portable garage things and see what they say? If it's away from anywhere it's likely to be vandalised then I think it'd be the nicest option. I've no idea what kind of money they are though. |

Yeah I think its tucked round the side of the house behind double gates so should be ok. She reckons they aren't much more expensive than a cover... |

Is this the sort of thing she had in mind? Yeah I think thats the type of thing and she did say she'd have to ask... also she's not sure how well the drive would hold up to it... I think she said it was block pavers

TBH i'd be inclined to go with a tailored cover. Less hassle & fairly easy to store when not in use - she'd could even stuff it in the boot & take it with her... for the cars we keep outside we've got the soft breathable covers from roy with a more substantial taylored cover over that, bit belt and braces, works well for keeping all the autum leafs, nob heads fag ends, and green stuff build up at bay, and as neil says easy storeage.
