I am currently in the process of finding myself another A series. I've found a project, which is a half built GS engined 2CV on an Ami Super chassis. It hasn't moved in four years, but apparently it ran when it was parked up. I'm not too bothered about the mechanical side of things - although I'd be interested to hear how widely available GS engine bits are - but I wouldn't have the first idea about how to extend the bonnet and wings (which apparently hasn't been done). Anyone got any tips? Or should I just go for the slightly shabby disc brake 2CV which I've also found? I like the idea of owning something a bit different, but I'm not sure I'm up to doing the bodywork.

Easy. www.chevronics.co.uk - Rob can supply anything and everything.

Big question has to be how tidy you want it to be? At the roughest, you could chop two bonnets apart and pop rivet 'em together... Making up a "lamp bar" should be well within your capabilities. No _need_ to extend the wings - the wheels are in the same place - just pop-rivet a blanking panel to the side of the extended bonnet.

(IMHO) save yourself the hassle and just wait until you find a 1/2-decent 2cv that you'll want to love and keep. Spanners has got one that he's trying to sell...

Wenn there is (just only a tiniest bit) a need for speed GO FOR THE GS thing.
It's quit an experience a GS(A) engined 2cv.

I know in the past there were some guys who made polyester wings and bonnets.

I know that http://www.hoffmann2cv.de/download/Hoff ... celist.pdf
still makes these wings and bonnets but they are fitted to put an SUZUKI engine inside the 2cv engine bay.

I just checked it they are also to fit an GS(A) engine and gearbox.

So good luck with your sidewinder.......

That's a useful link, cheers.
I should be getting some pictures of the Sidewinder soon so I'll be able to take a more informed decision, using my head and not my heart (yeah, right) once I've seen them. But I rather like the idea of a rat look Sidewinder. :)
