Great idea, but the only way I can see it happening with the way things are is if we're not allowed to use old vehicles for daily use. Given that I've got a 27 year old Dyane and a 28 year old motorbike which I use to go to work, it doesn't sound ideal...

That is true, where similar 'tax breaks' exist in EU countries (Germany for example), older cars are greatly restricted. I think I'll happily continue to pay current level of taxation, to have unrestricted use of the 2cv. Where our focus should be, is ensuring that taxation levels do not increase unfairly(due to 'environment concerns') and also to guard against imposed restrictions by national and EU laws. |
