I know Wednesdays can be a bit miserable, still half the week to go until the weekend etc, so have some pictures of a quality bodge I found on a 2cv I'm working on today.

That's the suspension knife edge shackle, the knife edge itself will only fit through the arm in the right orientation, but sadly the last person to take this apart didn't know that, and hammered the knife edge through the arm, oblivious to the fact it hadn't quite found the right path. The result being that the arm has splayed out, and the pin is wedged precariously in one side of the mounting....

Also, there are no R clips fitted to either side of the pin, fuck knows how it's not fallen out yet!

I thought that'd raise a smile!

<chuckle>
Just seen Russ's post over on 2cvgb.

I did think the chassis and suspension arm looked a very familiar shade. Can we presume the suspension's been Damaged somewhere between it departing Kent and returning?

I think it might have been Damaged at some point, which is half the problem with it. I really feel for the poor guy who's got it now.

Looking back at that other thread, the bloke who was selling it in May was claiming he'd done a lot of work to it, including "fixing" the suspension...

Did you read the ebay advert where he says 'can be adjusted back to standard'? Guess why it's come here to have the springs and arms changed? Also the section where he mentions he's 'properly repaired the battery tray, unlike some so called welders'? What he means is he left the aluminium angle and bit of wood jammed in it that had been there since before I got it.

I really didn't ever want to have anything to do with it again, it was such a POS when I had it, but after speaking to the guy at registers and understanding how badly mislead he'd been, I offered to do the swap for nowt. Obviously I'm keeping the turned arms and stuff....
