Post Right names please
I'm sure this has been on here before but I can't find a thread...
I've recently had my car insurance cancelled due to a dispute with a rather ratty salesman (maybe also as I told him to shove his rude mouth and policy up his fkin arse)
Tried some quotes this morning before work and the monthly payments are over a hundred quid more!!!
Who's ppl with? And how much roughly? Can't really afford to pay it in a lump sum unless I sell most of my possessions... And my soul

Footman James: £105, including European breakdown. Agreed valuation etc. They beat last year's insurer, Sureterm, by £15.
(Bear in mind that I'm over 40. It's one of the only things I can think of where being older is an advantage.)

<wince>

Here, borrow this large tub of copaslip - you're going to need it.

The companies I'm using...
Locktons (www.classiccarcover.co.uk) - not usually the cheapest assuming the mainstream lot want to know, but they've always been the backstop for anything nobody else wants to touch, so might be able to help. Their service is also _incomparable_, ime. Have a chat with the very, very, very helpful Claire - I know she's off until Monday, though...
Peter S Taylor (www.bishopcalway.co.uk) - again, flexible, helpful - very, very good.

Golden rule of thumb for me is if they advertise on TV, I avoid 'em like the plague.

(FWIW, I've just renewed the Saab with Locktons this week - '90 900 Turbo, fully comp, business cover, one not-at-fault, two 3pt photos - £350 inc Euro breakdown. Being old does have _some_ benefits, even if I'm not quite as ancient as Smiffy,)

Perhaps you should consider getting a slower car...

Peter James - he was the James part of Footman James.

Great people to deal with - It's a pleasure not to have to listen to the now usual FJ spiel; "Due to an unsually high demand all our operaters are busy right now - please continue to hold & we'll connect as soon as possible" - 36 minutes later i'd given up & took my business elsewhere.

Peter James' policies have all the 'perks' that FJ have - UK & International breakdown, agreed value, unlimited mileage, etc...

I'm paying £94 which is about a tenner cheaper than my last FJ policy.

eeek!

In my experience, Footman James haven't been great so I don't think I'll be renewing with them. All their under 25 policies are underwritten by Equity Redstar and they're dreadful.

Got no clue, but will that affect the next policy? Isn't it one of the standard questions asked when looking for quotes?

Unfortunately with your age, your points and your sex, you are going to have to take the hit :(

Like others I've benefitted from classic cover. Have you spoken to any of them to see if there is a way around the age thing? A couple of years ago rather than have a classic policy (I had/have :? a good few years NCD and didn't want to lose it) I got a specialist policy which included a lot of the classic stuff: have you tried asking specifically for "something like a classic policy but for a young lad"? Can you offer limited mileage?

Are you trying more than just the usual suspects? I'd try Neils suggestion and seek out some of the smaller brokers.

Good luck!

"Have you ever had a policy refused?", IIRC.

But - no. Sounds like Rebel told the salesmuppet where to shove it, and the salesmuppet acquiesced to that request.
