Post This is interesting.
With more and more of us expressing an interest in patinated vehicles I suppose it was only a matter of time before a product was launched to help us cheat our way to that 'look'.
I picked this up from the snail forum and found it fascinating. A paint on formula that reacts and corrodes to give a rusty look, but the metal below remains untainted, strange days!

This is a new metal cool box.

Which is painted white at the top, a logo added and then prepped with the magic paint.

Which is then exposed to water to become - 'rust'. 8-)

Did something similar when i was at Art College, acrylic binder releases amonia under sme circumstances, when used with iron filings and other ferrous residue( the black sludge from radiators and from steel left in warm water) i could patinate painted panels to look like corroded steel.

brick cleaning acid ( was used too till i was stopped from using it )

I inadvertantly got some metal filings embedded in the Shedouin's fibrelass wings which then went rusty :D
