Post Fame!
Anyone out there ever owned a 2cv that once belonged to anyone famous, or subsequently got bought by anyone famous?

Mate of mine once owned a Fiat Panda who's previous owner was Patsy Kensit!

Top Gear nearly bought my Charleston A81 HEA but decided to buy a Golf instead, and just took the p**$ out of the Charleston when it came to broadcast.

No fibs please.

John thingumy (Hooky) of red coupe/RN 2cv fame owns the beige Mehari (incidentally the same as mine) that belonged to Kinks founding members the Davies brothers.

My D*lly is owned by a relation (that would be me) of the only British primeminister ever to have been assasinated.... Or is that a bit tenuous!! :D

The more tenuous the better if you ask me, samfieldhouse! (Incidentally, I'm enjoying the mental image of the Davies brothers cruising around Swinging London in the Mehari, indulging in their pet pastime of punching each others lights out as they go.)

Antony Hopkins Aunty! Yeah, right! A likely story! ;)

In 1997 my wife bought a 3 month-old Ford Ka from our local F*rd dealer. It had been bought by the legendary Scottish international defender Charlie Aitken, who made a club record 659 appearances for Aston Villa between 1959 and 1976. He bought it for his mum, who couldn't master the gearbox, so he bought it back with just 46 miles on the clock and chopped it for a Fiesta mong-o-matic.

Charlie Aitken! Classic. Haven't thought of him for years!
Been meaning to ask you, BrianDamaged: what happened to your red Dyane, the one that's on YouTube?

I took this pic at a CCC meeting in the late 80's and I believe the car belonged to Ray Davies. Chris Goffey was also there but I'm sure the car was Ray Davies'

Ray Davies is well known for having had quite a few Citroens - DS Decap, SM - although I didn't know about a Mehari... A friend of ours used (recently) to play in a pub band with some of the (less individually famous) members of the Kinks - the band played at their wedding, and it was a little odd to hear a song be introduced with "And this is one we had a bit of success with a few years back... L-O-L-A-Lola..."

Dunno what happened to Idi Amin's SM, or Erich Honecker's CX Prestige.
