Mother in law has brought a new little dell computer, but everytime she starts the thing up she gets the windows live page up - see picture, can anyone tell me how to stop this happening - Im an Apple boy myself (even though that makes no difference - still a computer numpty)

Active desktop thingy on the go and windows set as the home page? right click on the desktop somewhere and under properties make sure that its not some on line nonsense set homepage in your browser to blank or search engine( and bin IE# whatever for firefox or chrome or something) if adrian wasnt fannying about with suspension he could do something usefull  Sean |

I'm quite happy for the software houses to subsidise my new hardware - it's very generous of them. But I don't want their junk to slow my machine right down. Start - Control Panel - Programs. Or just say "Soddit", and reinstall Windows from scratch - it's amazing how much better new domestic-grade PCs usually run with a clean Win install. Think of it as the PC equivalent of peeling the dealer stickers off the rear window of your new car... |

i get this all the time with my parents wish they would bring out a super simple PC for the over 75s with" start" "stop" "T'Internet" "Photos" in big buttons and nothing else  no upgrades of IEwhatever to the next whatever.01 no critical security warnings etc etc i swear when mine cant get it to go they go off to the shops and just buy a more complicated one with more widows shite on it Sean |

my brother in law has set it up for her, every time you want to do something PASSWORD IN, check her emails - the long way round to log in, she won't let me change anything as she knows how to do it now! thanks again for the help |
