I'm thinking of flying a small flag, say on club runs, and because of the angle of the car aerial, would prefer a seperate 'mast'. I guess the thin GRP fishing rod-type is best but where can I buy a 'mast' as genuine fishing rods would be expensive?

Or some thin metal? A coat hangar?

There's some thin metal tube in our garage that might suit if you can wait until registers?

How about another car aerial? That way you could retract it when not flying a flag.

Another car aerial? Hmm, I could attach it to both the N/S mirror and the existing aerial with thin cable ties? We have a club run to Cap Griz Nez in ten days time.

An old bendy tent pole? You know, those carbon-fibre types that are in all those modern dome-type tents?

Thanks Snowy. I guess these are the sort of flag poles seen at folk/rock concerts, thin whippy things?
