 Re: Suggestions.

but ill say it anyway
what about a MOTM award (member of the month) im not suggesting im the perfect candidate or anything, but a reward for someone whos had the most shit in a month (for example car just going wrong constently) or for example doing an amazing re build, or doing a competition involving a painting.. giving them a MOTM award?

 Re: Suggestions.
Ok, we currently have a 'Snail Delivery' and a 'The O/T Thread' threads; both are very useful and/or entertaining. However, they also share a similar 'flaw' - a wide variety of topics/requests all within a single thread. Because of this it's very hard, for instance, to follow or contribute to a particular O/T topic as it will invariably be fragmented by newer posts on a different subject! Ditto with the 'Snail Delivery'; to find out if one could be helpful, one has to trawl through all the sub-threads in there to see if an appeal for a 'North Devon collection' lurks inside. One finds that a time-consuming task, one does. So one often doesn't bother... Do these two areas ('The O/T Thread' & 'Snail Delivery') therefore deserve a main heading of their own? Ie: they could have their own sections under the main 'Board Index' menu? This way, the 'O/T Thread' section would open to numerous threads each on their own subject heading - each topic could then be discussed 'til the cows come home without intrusion from another, unrelated, subject. I think this would be particularly useful for the 'Snail Delivery' section; if this was a main heading, then clicking on it would open up all the threads with each request being separate with their own heading. And if the heading were to include the 'area of collection', then one would see at a glance if one would be able to assist. Eg "Can anyone collect and hold a front wing from Bideford, Devon?" One would be happy to

 Re: Suggestions.
maybe even if there was a snail delievery section, to possibly make it so that there was a load of sticky's for each corner of country or something?

 Re: Suggestions.
I don't want to speak out of turn, but I think part of the reason for this forum was to avoid going off on O/T subjects. I *think* people found all the O/T stuff on the club forum detracted from it's usefulness, (on the other hand some people enjoy it)...
anyhow I think the worry is that an O/T board on any subject specific forum gets more traffic than threads relating to the main subject matter itself!
For me, I like that there's rarely a post on here that isn't in someway 2cv-y. Just my tuppence like...

I'll second that, it's a far better forum for keeping the off topic threads separate. That's not to say thread drift isn't good though, as it's actually quite funny sometimes and is an entirely different thing. Above all avoid the cliquey situation that developed in the other place where for example one person had around 5000 posts, 4500 of which I'm sure merely said 'Whoo-Hoo'

 Re: Suggestions.
Thanks for your thoughts. Louise, I would agree very much that this is primarily an A-series forum, and long may it continue. However, since there is an 'O/T thread already - and it's fairly well used - I was just thinking aloud whether it should have its own proper section so that each item of discussion would then have it's own thread, rather than being a rambling jumble! I don't think I've contributed to the current O/T thread (unless I passed comment on your Allegro... ), but I may very well do so if I see topics that particularly interest me. It's just another string to the 2CV owner's bow. The Snail Delivery section is quite different, tho'; a genuinely useful facility, but hampered, in my view, by being unclear. You'd have to trawl through all the threads just to see if there's any chance you could help someone out - a chore that's made me only glance at the thread up until now. If, instead, each call for help had its own thread and heading, a glance would be all it would take to see if someone would like something collected and stored in your area.

 Re: Suggestions.
Yeah, I'm not knocking your idea, I'm just, well... guessing really as to why the admins went down the one thread for OT stuff rather than dedictaed board route. I'm more an OT type esp as I no longer have a 2cv, but I try and keep it off here. I should have said really, but the reason I made no reference to your other suggestion is because it makes sense, nothing more for me to add! I think a delivery board would be an asset.

 Re: Suggestions.
I've been thinking about making a ''snail delivery'' main forum in a while. Ill do that asap. (when i make a button.)
With regards to the O/T topic, we will keep it as it is i reckon as we do want to run a 2cv related forum rather than talk about the weather etc. Its not what were aiming fo really.
Max.
