Well, that's a coincidence. I owned FAC 327T for a while, before it caught fire and I put the chassis and running gear under a later cab.

Wasn't FAC 327T once owned by a chap called Ken Green, from the Birmingham area & which he used to campaign it in hill climbs & the like in the early 90's? I think it had PO front bumper & the wings were a different colour to the rest of the car, IIRC.

By gum, you've got a good memory ... yes it was. My mate Derek bought it off him when he started trialling in a Beetle, then when it caught fire (heater tubes) and it became apparent that it was going to be scrapped, I hid it from the insurance company and mated the chassis, engine and drum brake box (and front PO bumper!) to the shell of B144 EOM. Sadly, I heard that this had also caught fire and gone for scrap a few years after I sold it.

Winter 1963.

So old am I.. Winter 1963. I used to scratch my name in the ice on the inside of my bedroom window before going to school. It was still there when I got home.

The winter you have just had in the UK was mild by comparison

I bought FAC 334T from a garage in Sutton Coldfield in '82. My first car purchase, it cost me £1100. It was a '78 registered Club, which lasted until the early 90s with nothing but abuse from me (I'm ashamed to say). Blew up one engine (where a piston came shooting out of the block) and survived the tracking rod coming off at 70mph on the Halesowen by-pass. Replaced the sills, and generally applied increasingly bizarre paint mods to it until, by '92 when the chassis collapsed, it looked like the sort of car that the police would stop and search. Which they did. Which reminds me: got stopped late one night in Hunnington, Worcs; a policeman with a very tall hat strode up to the car and asked me to open the window. I did as he asked just as he bent down to talk to me (expecting a wind-down window, I suppose)... and I knocked his helmet clean off. Not amused!
The photo was taken in 84, whilst Blue was still looking magnificent. My brother took him to the scrapper while I was away travelling (probably as revenge for me setting fire to his beloved Tonka truck many years earlier). Still haven't forgiven the b*****d. Probably never will.
