Welcome! I don't usually like the look of metallic 2cvs, but that looks gorgeous. 8-)

Welcome aboard, blondenutter!

Oh, and I like your alias! (Assuming it is an alias, and not your real name.)

Hello. My name is Geoff. I'm 52 and used to run a management consultancy company that held contracts with the Department of Health. A couple of years ago I retired to become a full time stay at home dad to our baby daughter.

I have always been an enthusiastic Citroeniste, owning most of their modern classics. I kept coming back to the 2CV because it was so cheap to run and easy to modify. Over the past 12 years I have built and modified built several 2CV powered Avion trikes (see below). I run the owners club for Blackjacks.

However, I'd always wanted a Rod since going to the Custom Car shows at Ally Pally in the late 1970's. About 5 years ago I took the plunge and had a chassis and body fabricated by Andy Ford. Plan was to finish it in a year. Unfortunately (or fortunately) my business took off and I was too busy to finish it. I then flipped houses 5 times in 3 years in order to get my mortgage down as low as possible.

SO - I'm now back into the build and moving on with it. I've gone from having plenty of cash and no time to vice versa - although I just found a Building Society account book marked "Hot Rod Build" that I put a few grand in 5 years ago and forgot about, so I now have a decent budget to finish it and have started again in earnest. I fired up the engine recently - very exciting and motivational! I was planning to finish it by the Spring but in October I got vey ill and spent a month in hospital - recovering now but it's slow going.

The Rod is a Modified - it's an all steel 27 body on a boxed, pinched and Zeed 1921 One Ton Model T Truck chassis. It has a 1957 347 Pontiac engine with a 3 speed gearbox and 3 pedals. Front brakes are 1950 F1 on a suicided 39 drilled I beam and a Model A spring. Rear axle is an unknown Ford on a Model A spring (the axle is behind the spring). Seats are from a Dakota (DC3), Steering is cross steer using a Burman box. There are a lot of aircraft bits on the car and when it's painted I think I may have it signwritten as if it were a car sponsored by an Arizona aircraft scrapyard/supply company. It's not really a theme - but just the way I'm imagining a car like this could have been built.

I also have a 54 100e with a 2 litre Pinto - but that has to go as I've bought a Nouva Fiat 500 as it's more practical and comfortable on a daily basis for the little girl. I've done a whole lot of work to the 100e since I bought it (new s/s exhaust system, a really nice interior from a Cinquecento Sporting, ally fuel tank, new rad, decent tyres, powdercoated bumpers and wheels and a rewire). Sadly I've just sold it and the new owner is collecting it on Sunday.

I've always wanted an Avion. Far better than the Lomax to my eyes. Love the Anglia too. :D

Yes - Richard Oakes is an award winning car designer who has worked for Zagato, Aston Martin, TVR and many others. Lomax was a company that made toilet cubicles for building sites and events. Not a pop at them because they were certainly one of the most successful kit car companies in Europe and made hundreds of cars (there were only 65 Avions) - just a statement of fact and the reason why the Avion is a better looking, better designed car.

The Anglia has gone now unfortunately - but I'm busy spending the cash on the Avion (new clutch, ally petrol tank in the tail, new track rod ends, new Kimble aeroscreens with cowls, respray, wheels blasted and stove enamelled etc etc). Also lots to do on the Model T.
