Hi Martin,

thanks for taking the time to join up. You've certainly had an interesting history with A series vehicles, i particularly liked your old '60 ripple. It's certainly still being used - it was at Rochefort, in Belgium in 2008 & was at the world meeting in the Czech republic last year, to name a couple!

Looking forward to seeing some pictures of your old rides!

I seem to recall we passed it in a german service station when I was just coming out of my coma. The owner may have noticed our car, it was the one left unattended with all four doors and the boot open, and the keys in the ignition.

Welcome to the forum, with what you did to your golf fresh in my mind, I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do with an ami6.

thanks for the warm welcome, i see maybe a few of the guys have also posted on retro rides too at some point. One of my other famous cars was my dads, then mine, the old blue acadiane, that was used in the Channel 4 film, "Dutch Girls" in 1984, it was used in a faked Amsterdam red light district scene, you can see some of the film on youtube, Timothy Spall and Colin posh bloke Firth from the usual english films was in it. It was so funny seeing it on youtube after so many years, 1984 on c4 infact! the guy we bought it from said one of the film trucks had driven into it, hence the badly damaged front panels. we put it back to normal and used it heavily for many years, though it never looked the same after it lost the Dutch plates for english ones.

my ripple bonnet was on the Worcester international meeting video, and there is some film footage of my old lowered bleu azurite 2cv on the nottingham international video too somewhere

my old car, as someone on Retro Rides was carping on about minimal or poverty spec cars, i posted this up, LOL!

Image

no fuel guage
no electric wipers
no locks
no seat belts
no radio
no passenger sun visor
no front or rear indicators
(and in the pic above, no suspension too)

BUT it did have:

pull starter
aircon
a peppy little twin cylinder that you thrash all day and still get 50+ mpg

so I guess I should have counted myself lucky at least some of this would come back in fashion, as in my current car. And yes, i ran it that low most of the time too! It was in the book "2CV Family Album" when it wore the previous UK numberplate of PSU 876

I'm Peter, I'm near Milton Keynes in the UK. I have a rusty 250 AZU, the remains of a mid 80s car, several chassis and hopefully the ability to put it all together again. I sold my nice AZU recently so it's down to driving the Volvo now until I break out the spanners.

Welcome to the board, Peter. Was your old AZU the gorgeous looking EDF blue job that sold on eBay recently?

Guilty as charged. This one is going to be scruffy  The AZU I had before the EDF decided to emigrate to Washington DC and contribute to the French American Entente Cordiale.
