Been down to Lerwick today and used the Deuche. Weather wasn't great first thing, but soon improved and I've had the hood fully open all the way home (some 60 miles, plus 2 ferries). Actually managed to open the hood on the way down, but only for the last 20 miles. Have booked the Golf in for its very first MOT next week. Turns 3 in early September.

Followed by one of these, depending on the depth of water...

Wish I'd drilled holes in my floor sooner. I got around to it in the end but before that it just used to fill up over time.

Adjusted my heater very finely so the cables do their best. I still get heat coming in the cabin so whatever I do it doesn't shut it all the way off. Oh well... On the plus side, the VGC heater boxes I bought really chuck out the heat if you want.

That'll be due to the foam used on the heat exchanger shutters having broke up and disintegrated over the years. Don't think there's a suitable replacement on the market.

Ah I was thinking foam would have helped! I could always try sticking some foam on them, but then it'd smell of glue.

This might be worth a shot, as long as suitable high-temperature glue can be found.

Nice idea, haven't seen that stuff thin like that before.
