Quick review of the potential MOT issues on the Ami for tomorrow - blowing from the gaskets in the exhaust manifold - had bought some new ones from ECAS last week so thought a quick 1/2 hour job - 8 bolts and remove the alternator and bingo sorted - oh no big mistake there! Sometime in its life two of the studs have been badly helicoiled and that's why it was blowing and they came out on the studs when removing grrrr! Thankfully, I had two left in my kit so redid them and 2 hours later now seems to be blowing free - couldn't get it to run right to start with when I was checking and then remembered I hadn't tightened up the bolts on the inlet manifold and was sucking air and running like a bag of spanners as a result - DOH!

Yesterday actually - took it to the tyre place to get the tyres put on my new wheels and get them on the car. I got these Michelin wheels for Xmas, then got them painted. They look fab, snowy white. Actually the same as my other ones but somehow they look much better.

Bit surprised they needed balancing when checked, good job my friendly garage has the adaptor for 2cv style wheels :) I've yet to try them on the motorway but it seems to feel better on all the roads I've been on so far - rear nearside was buckled before.

No internet yesterday so couldnt post that the Ami passed MOT test with a couple of advisories - pin hole in rubber boot, wheel bearing noisy and brake pipe corroded but otherwise a feckin result on a 50 year old motor! Tester commented on what a solid chassis the Ami had in comparison to a normal 2CV....
