Felt works fine, i also have to replace the rubber in the hole for the accelerator rod. I also found the waterleak. It's running in along the direction indicator cable???? So from under the bonnet trough the fire wall or from the gutter through the door pillar. Have to check that out tomorrow by daylight...

The 57 runs better every day. It's real fun to drive it to work and elsewhere. ;-)

Did a pre-MOT service as it is so mild - didn't fancy crawling underneath it in Mid January if winter ever finally decides to get going....
Also decided to check the timing as I did it originally when I fitted the 652's - I musn't have had my glasses on or didn't tighten everything up properly as the points were virtually closed and it was way too much retarded - loads away from optimum on high speed tick over on the strobe. Anyway, re-set it all and had a quick blast and seems way more torque than before and thankfully no sign of pinking.

Having had my ignition switch start to jumb l decided to replaced with an after market One off eBay cost me £6 with 2 keys, it also offers a switch position to feed radio.
I cut away the bulk of the original alloy lock casting, leaving just the top of the casting where the original lock fitted. I did the cutting with my small angle grinder and a milling tool in my power drill.
The new switch is held in place with it's threaded fittings and due to the hole in the original fitment being a little larger than needed, it was filled with expo and a quick spray with some matt black finished it off.

It was cold and very windy but dry.......until about half one whereupon it pissed down. We did manage to BBQ mostly in the dry, though, fortunately.
