I've had a breather unit from Ecas on for a good few years now and it still looks good. In a kind of galvanised finish or something. Just the normal type.

the type you mention maybe looking ok, but did you measure the vacuum? the new ones i tested were all below par, or died very soon, the quick rusting ones i mentioned (from the link) do work very well.

No, I've no idea if it's functioning properly really, no obvious problems though.

She purdy again! So far from perfect but hey ho.

Also put on some new fuel hose and a glass window fuel filter - fed up with it needing starter fluid spray after a while of sitting. Have one of those one way valves too but that didn't seem to cure it. Pump was new a few years ago, probably worn poppets already I guess. Anyway I will be able to see if the fuel is there or not now.

New gearshift bushings too. Happy little car, I drove it to Brighton and back yesterday, it was awesome :)

Not unknown for that type of ignition coil to short out along the metal clips holding it in place. Many people who use that coil secures it with plastic cable ties.

Thanks. Yes I was thinking about putting heat shrink on them or using rubber spray to coat the brackets. Bit too close aren't they.

I did make a felt washer around the steering column of the 57 to keep the exhaust fumes out...

yes the last silencer under the gearbox was repaired but isn't in best shape but the old cars have their exhaust under your feet. And driving backwards or waiting at a trafficlight all fumes rest under the car. Originaly there is a special rubber flange on the steering wheel tube but you can't find those anymore. part A422-18
