Post Re: Welcome, Willkommen, Welkom, Bienvenue. Introduce yourself!
Apologies that I didnt introduce myself when I joined....I am Scoobasteves dad although I'm sure he wishes I dont introduce myself as such!

I have had 2CV's since my very first new car in 1979 - a green Club affectionately known as "The Snot Box" Which I sold in 1982. My next was a 1979 RHD Blue aks400 which was like driving a brick - I swapped with someone from Somerset for a 1978 Red Dyane that was just awesome - used to regularly monster Cortinas on the motorway at 80mph+ it had the most powerful engine of any A types I have driven. We chopped in the Dyane for a new 1986 Red Special which was a lovely car but sold it when the patter of little feet came along and desired something with a little more metal around the future devil spawn.
I got back into 2CV's about 3 years ago when my firstborn, Mike, wanted a car and didnt want a Nova or other Chav mobile so we bought Dudley the D*lly that Scooba drives now. I then bought the Blue Dyane with the GSA engine in for Mike, which Scooba has posted pics of elsewhere and finally to complete the madness, I bought the Beige Beast with the view to getting this low mileage Dyane back on the road with little cost - unlike the other two which have been a small fortune!
Glad to be a member.....

Welcome Dannii, Thanks for taking the time to join up. It's cool that Gay_Joe is going to help resurrect the D*lly & get it back on the road. Feel free to start a thread in the 'your A-series' section so you can chart it's return to life! ;)

Hello. I really should have posted here first, but better late than never, I suppose.
My real name's Al. Snowy is my 3rd 2CV, a white 1985 Special. My first Duck was a T-reg ('78?) myosotis blue Club, which I bought in 82 (my 1st car!). It lasted 8 years with nothing but abuse from me (including getting through 2 engines, having a collision with an ambulance on an emergency call, and suffering a 70mph collapse of tracking rod = front wheels going in different directions). Took it all over Europe and never realised how much I loved it. I was a cruel youth, and finally gave up on it when the chassis collapsed, 2 weeks after it passed its MOT. Can't believe I took that one to the crusher rather than stripping it down for the spares that I'd need in 2009.

My second Deuche was an A-reg maroon Charleston, bought in 92, which I didn't like much. Too kitsch, and not grubby enough. However, it a) provided me with the adrenaline rush of flipping its bonnet over my windscreen whilst in the outside lane of the M5 at 75mph and b) got me featured in an episode of Top Gear when I came to sell it in 93. They concluded that I was a dodgy dealer flogging a nail. They were wrong. It was a bargain at £800. However, I did get to spend an afternoon sitting in the Charleston smoking ciggies with Quentin Wilson whilst the crew filmed alternative angle shots (whatever they are). Got to hear what everyone on Top Gear at the time REALLY thought of Jeremy Clarkson.

I bought Snowy for £400 from an Army base in Leicestershire in 2002. She sat in my Dad's barn for 7 years, until Aug of this year. Finally got round to sorting her out after being made redundant. Stuck a new battery in her, and she started 3rd time of asking. Apart from a bit of tarting, that's all that's been needed. Currently to be seen screeching around the roads of N. Worcs, annoying Range Rover drivers, and being waved at by women, who seem to like 2CVs... or is it the driver they like?
