well it gets better and better! arrived home this afternoon after 3 days of roofless driving to find battery is a flat as a crabs arse... seems that the alternator is US...Luckily was on the drive before I found this out - swapped it for one off the engines I bought a while ago and voila! 14+ V on revving again - brushes look to be gone I suspect...not really a good week on cars as my Evoque has taken the huff as I am going to change it for a Lexus NX and gone into limp home mode...pfffffffff at least you can fix a 2CV!

Jet washed it with a commercial washer. It might be slightly lighter now, bit less paint on it!
Then I must have somehow got water in by the points. This has never happened before even when I washed the engine with the same washer. It sputtered and popped and kept nearly stalling. Anyway, left it sitting in the sun after getting the motor nice and hot, it's fine now :-)

Fitted new plugs and HT leads which seems to have transformed the 2CV, and I haven't got round to fitting the 107 main jet to the carburetter yet. Have also bought a new airbox to carb rubber elbow pipe thingy Which I shall fit in the next few days.

Roared down to Brighton in it, off the clock at times and it was an absolute joy all the way there and back. So much fun and so smooth :)

Did lose a hubcap on a motorway roundabout. They have sentimental value to me so it must have been quite funny watching me run about dodging lorries to get it back. Lol..

Sunday saw us enjoying this years' Amberley Classic Car show in Sussex. With just over 200 cars present, there was only one other A Series there, this nice Dyane, plus a couple of other interesting French cars as well.

(A) last week I installed a VGS Powertube, new nozzles in the carb (105/110). Fits perfectly on the fan tunnel, like on a Dyane, radial airflow, limited losses and maximun airflow.

12-spark was installed earlier (1) Pickup, (2) vacuum hose, (3) temperature element.

I enjoy tinkering with the little engine.

I realylike the VGS powertube.. it is right in the airstream, giving less losses... Nice little engine you have...
