Been down the Wye Valley past Tintern Abbey with the hood fully open. Very pleasant journey. :-)

Abandoned the bloody thing @ the other end of the county. Shite journey to Emsworth, died on the Bognor roundabout on the A27 @ Chi, refused to start in Southbourne after filling up, appears to be a breaking down coil (coil got very hot, no tick over, wouldn't restart after stopping), not experienced coil probs before in 20 years of 2cvs. Bunged my spare coil on and it started straight away, off I went gayly (old sense) but it refused to rev & started all the spitting back, backfiring nonsense I had with the M4 engine... Sneaking feeling this 'spare' coil was the one I was using with that... Got it going, eventually, on the 'hot' coil & limped to the boat yard with it trying to die everytime the revs dropped.
Not a good day.

Started to install my 12-spark! And fixed the springs on my carburettor.

Not today but was on Sunday:

Actually drove the car and did some work on it! Just servicey things like greasing things, checked levels of things, fixing broken shit like rear fog light bracket.

Was really nice to drive it and not just looking at it getting worse... Looking forward to better weather and prepping it for Polandski :)

Thanks James! Car is safely @ Paynes, when I've rummaged up the bits I'll trundle over & fix it (again) & get it home - Janey came out & got me this afternoon, excuse for her to escape her desk & come pat the boat! ;)
PM me your mobile for future ref. please.

Wow, the car is back on top from after its full throttle run to Brighton and back with acetone in the fuel. Drove it today and it felt awesome. Its only been a bit hesitant since a bit of disuse this year, nice to have it back to itself again :)

The manifold is blowing a bit again after my helicoiling ministrations.. Only a bit, but hmm.

Charged the battery as it has stood outside since last November. Turned the key, started first time and roared off to the shops. 1-2-spark works like a treat.

Took the rear door to the carrosserie to be prepped and painted as the current door is just about to fall into a pile of rusty bits (seeing as it has spent the last 3 months in the rain, snow and cold)

And had a daughter and her mum taking photos of me driving past - must be one of this weird A series spotters :)

Had the usual weekly run to make sure everything is hunky dory and on start up did a massive back fire through the air filter and stalled....second turn over started fine but noisy - thought, typical blown filter out of housing, so looked under bonnet to find, yes, blown filter out but, as I had screws in it into housing to stop it turning and coming out, had blown it clean off screws taking massive chunk of cold plastic with it....bollocks, off to ECAS on Monday for a new top.....
