Bounce like a clown's car was a reference to Record.

If you need that type of laugh there's one here:

£95.00

What is the problem with Monroe considering the supply fitment for most vehicles world wide?

AIUI, that's precisely the problem. Monroe sell dampers that fit. They're not, however, designed for the unusual orientation on 2cvs, so don't work properly.

The words "bounce like a clown car" have been used in the past.

Oh, and whilst we're on the subject... who needs a laugh?

At £125 for four, what d'you reckon the chances of getting four Lips are?

I'm almost tempted to hold my nose and order a set from them, just to see what actually arrives...

Going back to the actual disappearance of Lipmesa, FWIW, this is the business failure in question...

Me too. Although the rears on the D*lly fell off at Snet in 2011 and I never put them back on. This is not recommended. Shagged tyres and lots of noise.

I think that the only problem with Monroe is fitting them incorrect will see them fail.
However 2 out of 4 new fitted on my raid van didn't last to the end of the raid. Some 10.000 clicks and fitted the right way. I'm sure that street cars will have no issues (if fitted right) Anyway, we have little touch at the moment (until somebody get their tooling and begin producing LIP under another name)

i also think monroe are ok for daily use and a good value for the price; cassis sells a set of 4 (front and back) for not much more than 100 euro
on the belgian mot test that fails them even brandnew fiat 500's used to fail
fiat lobbyed to get an exception, citroen could not be bothered anymore

for raid use many raiders i know prefer red gabriel, but they are difficult to find (only old stock)
black gabriels are still widely available

other brands i know of are sachs and KYB
i bought a set of (rather expensive) sachs for the car i am building at the moment but not used them yet
no experience with KYB either

Put KYB on the RT's Dyane when I had it and they seem perfectly sound.....

This is very bad news! I'm just starting a beachcomber resto that was going to be a raid car :(

So if i'm reading this right, our choices are now limited to record, which are shit, or monroe which are slightly less shit?
