I dont think it affects the roof as it seems to have a good seal when we close it up.
The big disadvantage is probably only going to show itself over time, as the roof material chafes on that press-stud.
As for temperature - forecast to dip to freezing tonight, here in the Montenegrin mountains. Plenty of snow still around, too, despite the rain... Humpf.
