 Re: Kit cars
As a post-script, how many A series cars are actually standard? What I enjoy about our cars as opposed to other classic cars (and was the case when you could buy 'em new) is how many different variations on the same car we can come up with. I would even go so far as to suggest that some cars are only A series in appearance only (remember the Ferrrari powered 2CV van recently?) In fact what Russ is requesting Russell wrote: What I'd like to see on the kit car market would be a glassfibre or aluminium 2cv shell so it wieghed nothing, and a tubular spaceframe/rollcage chassis that took 2cv running gear. Could be built as a high riding raider or a low and fast circuit or fast road machine. is pretty much an example really.

 Re: Kit cars
Don't get me wrong Bertie, my vitriol is mainly aimed at the two seat three wheeled affairs that are most common. I never really viewed the bed as a kit car to be honest. Perhaps if my experiences of driving lomaxes were more positive I may look at them in a better light.
The blackjack kits don't actually use much 2cv at all do they? I still don't understand why people think taking a wheel off makes the car better, surely if it was the best way Citroën would have done it (I realise i'm the last person who should critisise people for doing things on that road)

Reading your post back, do you ever remember the 'spot the difference' competition?

I hate 2cv kit cars! Right, that's you off my Xmas card list straight away! Neil wrote: hideous things! Just my opinion. And you When i said i didn't like kit cars, i was referring mainly to the 'sporty' looking variants. I, as i'm sure you know actually quite like Bedouin's. I also like the Lomax DejaVu which is a jeep type kit. El cid & Van Clee i can deal with as well!

 Re: Kit cars
Well I like kits cars, well many of them anyway. I have a Rochdale Olympic PhII which one day I may actually begin her restoration, having owned her for about twenty years. I actually like the Lomax 223 although have yet to drive one. My only quibble is that whilst from the bulkhead backwards, the car is nice and curvy, the front end seems to have been designed by someone else so to my eyes just doesn't look right. So my daydream would be to get a crashed 223 with frontal damage and build a new front to match the curvy rear end. A homebuilt space frame would be nice too.

 Re: Kit cars
I must admit .....I'm not a fan of kit cars ...but I rather like the Manx. http://www.2cvkitcarclub.nl/manx/index.htmI think I could cheerfully junk the body off'n my '88 Spesh for one of these ... I've only ever seen one though ... T.

Tbh, what winds me up most when working on certain kit cars is the random sizes of bolt heads and threads which seem to find their way into the mix. Not really something you can blame the kit manufacturers for, though - that's down to the muppets that build 'em without spending a few quid on a couple of boxes of nice shiny new matching fasteners... Wow... http://www.voglietta.nl/Hmm. Their MG TF wannabe is less... Well, less.
