Lovely car indeed, but probably slower than a polar bear on a bicycle, with that A79/0 engine. ;)

If it's been of the road since '95 it won't have needed SORNing, as that came in a few years later and was never backdated to include cars that still existed but were off the road.

FWIW, in the past year I have acquired two 2cvs that should have been SORNed, as they were both taken off the road after SORN came in, but neither had been. One of them came without a V5, and I applied to the DVLA for a new one. Neither of these cars have caused me any problems with the DVLA or anybody else.

Hmmm. It may have caused someone else some trouble. (their fault mind...) my brother gave away his GSA - as he couldn't justify spending a few hundred quid on repairs for a car worth... a few hundred pounds. Especially as he wasn't using it. Anyway - he'd misplaced the V5 and couldn't be arsed to apply for a new one (they are £25 after all)

DVLA wrote to him when the new owner applied for a V5 - checking that was all ok. I think he wrote back to say, "yes - not a problem" at which point DVLA promptly fined him £50 for not notifying a change of ownership.

A cautionary tale?

Post Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
V5 Docs - some time ago I brought a car that had been parked in a car park illegally for some time, the car park had decided that enough was enough, and sold the car (which was parked illegally in their car park) to recover car parking costs, I brought the car off them with NO PAPERWORK, I checked the car out with the DVLA, had it registered in my name, brought it back to its former glory at quite a bit of money.
One year later when I was working away, my wife rang me to say that 3 policemen were at the house saying that the car in my garage had been stolen, and were investigation had started and they were going to sieze the vehicle. The police checked out my story etc etc, and agreed that I was in the right and it was now a Civil matter, legal proceedings were taken by the 'former owner' I took alot of legal advice, the cost were getting more and more for all parties, I kept saying to my legal team (yes team) that I worried about cost's this was a 6k car (I paid 4k, and with work) they kept saying you cant loose this, so 2 1/2 years later we went to court in London 2 days later and with me made to feel that I was the criminal in this and I had had the car stolen to order!!!!! all I had done was brought the car from a person who had cleared the car park of about 15 cars that had not paid there parking costs - The judge had ruled that I knew all along about the history of the car and ordered me to return the car to the owner, pay all his costs, also pay all the costs for the guy who sold me the car JUSTICE EH! we appealed more costs, LOST the APPEAL, ordered once again to pay all parties costs - so all in all a car that I paid £4000.00 for, ending up costing me a little over £102000.00 yep One Hundred and two thousand pounds - so be careful when buying without paperwork, check as much as you can, I checked all I could getting quite a lot of history of the car along the way - I still got F***ED

Agreed, that's a very scary story! Once again, it just proves that if you try and do things properly in this country, you still get rogered.
