Passed the mot, parked the 106 in my brothers road and forgot about it and took it for a blast. Forgot how enjoyable driving a 2cv is. With that wonderful '2cv smell'!!!

You had a couple of dozen badly hung-over, damp and muddy people who haven't showered for a few days in the car with you?

Built a small frame to hold fire extinguisher under drivers seat, checked spark plugs then used feeler guage to set gap to correct width (both slightly too large), sort of checked tappets by using a t-bar on the top of the rocker cover and found one was quieter than the rest when engine was cold, got a list of wiring/connectors needed to start fitting radio/speakers, topped up engine oil and screenwash, found out n/s C.V (nice autocorrect there...) boot has split slightly...

Anyone got any tricks to getting the new one on or just grease and push?

Patrick,
if you get the replacement boot from the right place, ( ;) ) the plastic bag which holds the charge of grease will slip rather neatly over the splined end of the outer driveshaft, with the result that there's less pushing or pulling needed.
Just wipe your greasy paws on the outside of the bag after you've added the grease to the joint and inside the boot...

ken

( Sorry James,
I was wondering why you'd chuck your cuppa back in the kettle all the time I was typing this reply to Patrick.
Takes a while for the penny to drop, sometimes. )
