For those in any doubt, if you travel to France and are using a sat nav it must have the part of the system that warns about speed cameras removed. Disabling it is not acceptable it has to be removed. The gendarmerie are going at this hammer and tongue in some areas.

Most manufacturers are offering a free update to the equipment to remove this feature just for France. Certainly my UK bought Tom Tom updated FOC from their web site. It no longer warns of speed cameras while in France but did when we used it on a trip to the UK in January.

You could of course ignore all of this and take your chances in an argument with a gun toting French speaking Gendarme.

That sounds extremely painful, probably in breach of the Geneva convention. :shock:
