Very true, but the 2CV world used to be populated by likeable, friendly and knowledgeable people. In the main, it still is, but im worried by this increase in drongo's. As i say only an opinion. Don't worry mate, to avoid becoming a drongo is not to behave like one. The 2cv world is still full of weird abd wonderful nerds, just ignore the idiots, they'll never get to run the show.

 Re: Can i just say
All fair comments Matt .....but nuffin' changes .... I recall going to a 2CVGB camp in the mid 1980's with my [then] 1975 Dyane. The camp was organised by a bunch of people who were all running new cars. Mine was the only Dyane there. I got the impression that they'd just got together and said .... "Hey,lets have a Car Club .....Wots the cheapest car we can all buy? .....Oh yeah,a Citroen 2CV"Thankfully,that Club [local section] has ceased to exist...... [and No .....before anyone asks ......I aint naming no names]

 Re: Can i just say
Sadly you get these sorts of people everywhere. They end up making a model of car a 'scene', no place is this more evident than the VW 'scene'. Its amazing how many people havent a clue about Beetles and Campers on a certain VW forum and always hand the vehicle over to a specialist, also because its the 'scene', prices are stupid and it was only bought as an investment whilst the rest of us just want a cheap usable classic that we can have fun driving and fixing ourselves

 Re: Can i just say
It's sort of a self fulfilling prophesy don't you think? As with Beetles, the 2cv's were once cheap, became fun to own and 'customise' as you wish, which then attracted others wanting to buy into that scene. When I see some of the lowered resto-cal look cars over on the Snail forum it's hard not to draw comparisons with the VW scene. As for the new owners of the fully restored (and expensive) cars, they're never going to use the car as it should be used, but at least they're keeping some specialist restorers going!

What do you mean by ''should be used'' I know many 2cv owners you are describing and they have every right to drive or not drive their 2cv in any fashion they decide. You can not tell people how others should use their 2cv and if so, how should they then drive their 2cv.
