Post 2CV plus caravan?
Can a 2CV manage a caravan?
Would it have to be a tiny van?

Easily, loads of people tow Eriba Pucks.

I tow a 14ft boat and I've towed other 2cvs on a car trailer. They're great tow cars. Just wang your rear suspension up.

Cool, thanks. I would only pull a small van, 2 berth.

One of the guys in our local club [RADARS] towed a 2 berth caravan to the Oxford National a couple of years ago ......tbh,I was amazed at the good speed he made on the motorway going & coming home.
I tow a 350kg trailer tent myself, and he was'nt much slower than me,although admitably he was on his own in the car where-as there were two of us in my 2CV.
btw ......I find that my Trailer Tent [a Dandy Dart] efectively loses me a gear .....where I'd normally be in 3rd gear going up hills I need 2nd, normal "2nd gear" hills need 1st and any hills which would need 1st are a no-no.......the odd gentle slope on a motorway can catch me out and I'll need 3rd gear.

hth
best regards
T.

Legally there are weight restrictions that you might (or might not) want to consider.
(I don't know what they are though!) :D

Here's what the Gov says:

"Most cars have a maximum weight of what they can tow. It’s usually listed in the handbook or specification sheet.

Alternatively the vehicle’s gross train weight may be listed on the vehicle identification number (VIN) plate on the car. This is normally under the bonnet or inside the driver’s door. The gross train weight is the weight of the fully loaded car plus fully loaded trailer and must not be exceeded.

If your VIN plate doesn’t list a train weight, you should not use your vehicle for towing."

I don't think 2cvs have that on the VIN, but as we are all frenchmen in disguise, we don't take any notice of what Gov says

I'll take it back. Just been out to check. There are some figures on the VIN. From these the max. mass of trailer/caravan is 400kg. The max. loading on rear axle 500kg. From that I don't know how to work out max. nose weight, but I would have thought no more than say 30-40kg.

They're called Freedom caravans in the UK. Polish made and based in Stafford.
