I'd really reccomend using an amp if your budget stretches to it. You'd be amazed at the difference it makes, especially at 75mph with the roof open...

Budget doesn't stretch quite that far just yet - going to stick to a pretty basic setup to begin with and see where that takes me first I think... There are more important things that need to be repaired/refurbished before I start with extras :(

There are thin speakers available on the market..
But they are more expensive then the normal ones.

I've got flat speakers mounted in my car, 42mm deep, but still you need to have to make the doorcard bigger..
I did it like this:

Speakers (2 way compo set) cost around 200€

before these speakers I had normal speakers, with the same yellow 2cv, and the magnet of the speaker touched to outer doorskin. Now there is more room between the speaker and the door

loving the yellow 2cv! and the door shelving is a great idea...

Will probably end up getting some speakers which aren't too big and just build/buy a frame/speaker pod which they fit into and attach all to the doors
