I would say 1984 is about right.

Yes I do remember you. How can one not remember crazy aussies

Wouldn't worry too much over the year of your duck. Main thing is what model it is (brakes, engine size, carby size etc etc)

It depends on a few things, car preparedness and work committments mainly.

Both Peter (the Mate) and myself are still working so we have to juggle all sorts of time committments. Also, since the car is a big unknown as yet, we won't know how much we have to replace or rebuild until we get it on the road and drive it properly.

Registration is currently lapsed and getting a certificate of roadworthiness might be hard until we fill up some rusty holes in the bodywork.

The good news is that the chassis seems almost perfect. Checking through the "bungs" in the floor shows no rust at all! I've treated it with some LanoGuard (lanolin spray) so it smells like a sheep and feels real Aussie! I'm guessing that the chassis was replaced before it was brought over here in 1993. This could also explain why I haven't been able to find a stamped chassis number on the right hand rail yet. I remember you mentioning that if it was the original Citroen unit the number would be there.

All that being said, we're aiming to do the Tassie to Byron Bay run as a shakedown before possibly tackling the August event into Len Beadell territory.

Cheers, Pottsy

Stick it on club plates?

That's the plan, but needs to be pre 1986 (which I reckon it is now) and still roadworthy.

A small fly in that ointment also is that West Australia doesn't recognise Club plates form the Eastern states! They always want to be different!

Ah well, obstacles are made to get over!

Cheers, Pottsy

Raid 2008 in WA had 2 or 3 cars from Vic on red club plates. :o
