Details below. The car was part of the recent Hermes event in Manchester. The owner, Siobhan, is a lovely lady and doesn't deserve to have her Deuche nicked.
Most distinctively it has 'Billy' on the vent flap and a boot rack, but if it's broken for parts, well.........

Whilst having people touchered (?) might be a nice thought (I don't know what touchering is) I'd rather this didn't turn into a full on abuse thread.

What'd be better is positive ideas to get the car back, are there any specialists in the area who could be asked to keep an eye out for it? We all have a look at eBay from time to time, so should any blue panels turn up I'm sure we'll bear this in mind, maybe it was just stolen for a laugh and torched/dumped?

Adrian, any chance you can keep us updated if you hear any more?

Post Re: STOLEN 2cv - MANCHESTER, UK
Any news on this. This e-mail is now finding its way around Australia.

Hi.

I’m Siobhán Rocks, a 2CV owner from Lancashire, England, and I’m in need of some
assistance.

My treasured car, a 1987 Blue Citroen 2CV6 Special (D685 VHG) ‘Billy’ was stolen on
Sat 29th/Sun 30th August 2009, from outside my home.

The car is restored to an exceptionally high standard and it is believed that it was
stolen 'to order' and by now may have a different identity and no longer be in the
UK. I'm aware that there's a market for right-hand drive 2CVs in Australia.

Due to the restoration there are a number of distinguishing features (such as no
centre join on bodywork above the centre pillar) that will make the car identifiable
on a brief inspection even with different number plates and vehicle identification
number, false documents and re-sprayed bodywork.

To recreate a car of similar quality would cost over £10,000 sterling, but 'Billy'
is valuable not only in monetary terms, and there is a cash reward for information
leading to its recovery.

Attached is a flyer with a photo and details.

I would be very grateful if you could circulate this information to your members,
and ask them that they keep a lookout for a similar car, and get in touch with
either me or the police if they suspect that they have seen or know the whereabouts
of Billy the 2CV.

I can email more detailed photos and the complete list of distinguising features
should you need them.

Also, could you advise me of any other organisations (classsic car importers for
example) that may be able to help?

Many thanks and very best wishes

Siobhán

Whilst I'm the same as everybody else in offering my sympathy to the owners, it'd be somewhat epic if it turned up in Oz and got returned home to its rightful owners...
