Dirt roads are always the best... are the scrapyards in N Africa still keeping the odd A series? Sounds like a great jaunt. :D

When i was last there there was very little A specific ...saw a couple of rear arms and wheels under the ever present donkey carts.

Suspect as with all countries and Africa especially the Chinese were there a few years ago and hoovered up all the scrap to build that stadium for the olimpics

This is definitely VERY interesting. I cant obligate myself to participate - yet. But both me and Amelie (my 2CV) will follow this thread with great interest, ;)

If the event has to end at the world meeting in France it seems to rather limit where you can go.

There are lots of events to eastern French speaking north Africa.

How about Cairo to Cape town? Okay no chance of doing it in a month or perhaps even at all without funding....

No doubt something to do one day but for the beginners, it is easier to roam around the north/west and hopefully learn heaps. A Danish guy is just about to take off to Kilimanjaro

I will follow his trip with interest. I wouldn’t raid that fare without correct knowledge on my own or with a group of ‘’new’’ raiders.
Later on no worries

I have sent an advertisment about the raid to the Danish and Norvegian clubs. It will look somthing like this. the tekst is in Danish but sounds like this.
Raid Afrique 2011

Participate in Raid Afrique 2011 with final at the 2cv world meeting in France.

The 2cv has some special qualities for travelling on small tracks and off-road that you ought to give your self the chance to experience.
Raid Afrique will guide you and your 2cv, by the smallest tracks, through sand, rivers and mountains all around Morocco.

Raid Afrique will be English spoken, with participation from at least F, SF, GB and DK.
To be on raid provides more security by travelling in groups. You don't have to bring all kind of spares and tools, and you don't necessarily have to be able to fix everything your self.
There isn't to the same degree, as when travelling individual, need for strengthening the car since the raid cars will be lighter and the risk of having a breakdown is not that serious.
Anyway you do need to have a 2cv in good condition - especially when it comes to rust.
You shouldn't calculate on being more than two persons in each 2cv + perhaps smaller children.
You must judge your self weather your children are ready, for driving quite a lot and under extreme conditions.
We will be using the four weeks up to the 2cv World Meeting and driving something around 5 to 6 thousand kilometres in Morocco.
The budget for a raid is low.
We spend the nights in tents or in the car, on camp-sites or wild camping + a couple of nights in hotels.
The gas is cheep in Morocco, and so are the camping-fees.
There will also be a couple of ferries costing around 500 Euro.

Raid Afrique isn't a commercial offer, just an invitation to join up on a trip with other more or less experienced 2cv freaks.

I'm pretty sure that more people will join once we get a bit closer to 2011. It is still early days and it is already looking good. Can't wait
