i'd certainly like to be kept in the loop on this one. I'd love to do the toureg but it's very expensive and I'd want to go in my own car, it's been everywhere with me!

i often dream about crating her up and driving from NYC to calafornia.....

Well you don't have to go on toureg. The idea with this trip is that it will be cheap as chips, like pay as you go. No fees to pay, no profit to anybody, only food, fuel, ferry ticket and bits and pieces. Of course you'll bring your own 2cv (A-model).

Ive had so many thoughts 'bout this and got some maps out....yes ! that is the time...2.15 am !...or 1.15....for us not on British Summer time international time traveller type maybes....he..he..getting a feel for this !

Spoke to the good lady and she is happy to pack me of in a tin snail for a few weeks !....she thourght a month far too short a time !

I am having a mid-life crisis ....I dont think a sexy 19 year old is going to come my way (altho that would make it a French made one wouldnt it ?...just how old does she need to be for me to run away with a French one ?)....and a red sports car was never my style....

....sorry my dear Bamboo...and Jade....I have something to tell you...well OK....it could happen...a certain Red convertible might happen....

But what IS certain....I am going to be able to take some time off and would LOVE to hack off in a 2CV and do something mad like this.

Count me seriously on this and keep it live...PM me also to swap details cause this is so my thing and great timing

.... for us Brits.

....actually not at all....not at all in any way....

....lets get this international...thats the focus here....

...anyone want to see England, Wales and Scotland...climb abroad !!!

..Ive cycled ...yes...on a bike with pedals..(no engine !!). Lands end to John o Groats (LE2JOG)...four years ago.

That was hard.....real hard....I carried my gear and camped every night (but one..freebie in a barn)

..but amazing fun....fantastic...and Im not a fit kid either !

I fully intend to drive it again in a 2CV and visit places where you cant on a bike. ( a few extra miles at the end of the day is too much as a cyclist.. . As a cyclist I blagged camping in peoples back gardens....you are up against it weather, gear and distance wise.)

In any car, doing a few 50 miles at the end of the day is not a hassle.....or you sleep in it. On a bike you simply cant.

However....doing any journey in a 2CV is fun.....and a bit of an adventure....so anyone wanting to do LE2JOG in a 2CV contact me...I thort I might do it again this way next year and spend about 10 days at it. On bike you want to just get there, by 2CV the route could be more interesting, so a daily average milage of say 150 ? ....and have some time for interesting route ?.. you do this kind of thing once in you life...there are no records to break...Lets find an interesting tour ?..but what about us brits (and any one wanting to come from abroad...let me show you the UK...!!!) doing a tour of the coast of the UK...its been walked several times and cycled....its around 7000 miles...if you do the complete accessable shoreline (not at all accessable in many places...and bridges etc).

...this thread excites me loads...Afrique 2011...yep....well into that...

..anyone wanting to do some "warm-up" excersises....get in touch !

I like the idea of the "big adventure".

I am well up for any of the suggestions on this thread....

...

Much more the way to do it, imho.

We're very interested indeed. Ellie did the first Raid Oz, we both did the second Plymouth-Dakar, and took a 2cv across the US after the Boston ICCCR - and our feet are getting slightly itchy again.

If you fancy any thoughts on planning a bit further into the future, I know that I'd _love_ to do former Soviet central Asia or South America...

Welcome onboard, good to see you here. Yes raiding Africa in your own 2cv will for sure be an experience you’ll never forget. My first raid was Australia in 2000 a 2cv holiday in spectacular landscape with quirky 2cv people from all over the world. Truly one of the best holidays I even had. I think Africa is similar if we can find the “right” route.

Certainly interested in other places too but let’s concentrate on Africa first getting the network up and running. We need many people from all walks of life with many difference skills in order to achieve a successful raid

Whilst doing a one-way trip makes life a lot easier logistically, and the whole "Let's do it in the most ridiculous bangers we can find!" ethos has a certain attraction, that's one of the things that's _caused_ most of the problems for the Dakar and similar trips.

The local residents really don't need a whole pile of unsuitable scrap cars dumped on them.
